Police Arrest Suspected Rapist, Robber

By: NY1 News

Police arrested a man they believe to be responsible for a rape in South Richmond Hill.

Authorities say the suspect approached a young woman as she was walking along 103rd Avenue near 123rd Street on Monday. He then allegedly forced the 18-year-old victim behind a building and raped her.

Police believe he may be involved in another robbery and sexual assault in Queens.

"We had specific information from a tipster that enabled us to identify an individual," said Police Commissioner Ray Kelly. "We had a photo array and then we had a line up and he was arrested. He subsequently made statements implicating himself in both of these incidents."

Police do not believe he is involved with the recent string of sex assaults in southeast Queens.
