Police continued to search Tuesday for a man who stole a livery cab in the Bronx, after attacking the driver and another woman Monday night.

Investigators say that around 10:45 p.m. Monday, a livery cab dropped off a man at Carter Avenue and 174th Street in Tremont.

The passenger then allegedly hit the driver on the head and stole his Lincoln Town Car.

Police say the man drove the car to Davidson Avenue, where he approached a 27-year-old woman, threw her to the ground, and stole her cell phone before taking off.

Some residents said they were not surprised to hear the news.

"That's very unfortunate. That's very crazy," said a local resident. "I feel sorry for the cab driver. I feel sorry for the lady."

"Before I leave, I have to peak out to make sure no one is near the door or by my window," said another. "It's so dangerous here."

"After a certain time, I'm not usually alone; I go around with people," said a third. "You just can't just walk around by yourself in this area anymore."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS or text message crimes to TIP577.
