A group of local anti-war activists earned $2 million Tuesday when the city settled a lawsuit over their April 2003 arrests.

The 52 activists were arrested in while protesting against the Iraq war in front of an affiliate of the Carlyle group in Midtown Manhattan. They claimed the private equity firm was making money off the war.

The protesters said they were illegally arrested because they were not blocking the sidewalk and were never given a warning to leave before police arrived and took them into custody.

A NYPD video proved their case.

A spokesperson for the city law department said the plaintiffs are equally sharing the settlement.

The city said even though it settled the case, it is not admitting any liability.
