A city institution celebrated its 75th anniversary by rolling back prices.

Patsy's in East Harlem marked 75 years in the business by charging customers according to its 1933 menu.

For this evening only, customers got a slice of pizza for just 60 cents. Grilled steak or a salmon filet cost 90 cents each and a soda was just 10 cents.

Patsy's fan Stephanie Stith joined 150 people who camped outside the restaurant, waiting for the deal and pizzas that are cooked within two minutes in a coal-burning stove.

"Didn't like pizza growing up until I had a slice of Patsy's pizza," said Stith.

Patsy's co-owner says he's just being kind to a community that's been kind to him.

"We've had 75 successful years here through thick and thin and just one day a year we have to do this, and this was a good starting point," said Patsy's co-owner John Brecevich. "We'd love to do it every year until we hit 100 and then we'll see where we go from there."

"We're going to do a lot of business and we're going to lose a lot of money, but it doesn't matter," continued Brecevich. "This is what we owe to our customer base and the community."

The deal was open to the public until 7 p.m. only at Patsy's original location on First Avenue between 117th and 118th Streets.
