Three newborn kittens rescued from a garbage can in the Bronx are now in need of a home.

Margaret Fasolo, of Kingsbridge, says she found quite a surprise when she took her trash out Sunday night. Fasolo, who already owns four cats, says she just can't take in anymore.

She says she called more than 15 no-kill shelters, Animal Care and Control and the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, but all of them said they were too full.

"I feel bad, because they really, really wanted to help me, and they couldn't,” said Fasolo. “The ACC couldn't even guarantee – they said they would take them but it didn't look like they'd be able to keep them because they were just too needy. So if anyone could help that would be absolutely wonderful."

"With so many animals coming into our shelters at one time there are space constraints,” said Richard Gentles of ACC of New York. “That's why we have to encourage New Yorkers to get involved, to donate, to volunteer, to also to adopt."
