Serbian officials says the country will not extradite the former Binghamton University basketball player accused of beating a Brooklyn man into a coma and fleeing the United States.

Serbia's foreign minister says Miladin Kovacevic will not be sent back to the U.S. to face charges because Serbian law does not allow for it.

The minister suggests American authorities hand the case file over to them so Kovacevic can be prosecuted in Serbia.

Kovacevic is accused of beating Bryan Steinhauer during a bar fight in May.

Kovacevic was in a Broome County jail for a month before a Serbian diplomat posted his bail and gave him an emergency passport to fly home.

Steinhauer is still in the hospital.
