Reverend's Family Speaks Out Following Deadly Crash

By: NY1 News

The family of Reverend Timothy Wright spoke out Monday as the pastor remains hospitalized following the accident that killed his wife and grandson.

Talking at their home in Long Island, Wright's sons say their father is aware of the death of his 14-year-old grandson, DJ, but that they have not told him about the loss of his wife, Betty.

The 61-year-old pastor was traveling with his wife, Betty, and their grandson, D.J., from a gospel convention in Detroit, Michigan, when their car was hit on Interstate 80 in Pennsylvania. State police say the driver of the other car, who was also killed in the crash, was on the wrong side of the road.

Family members say they are waiting for the reverend to get stronger before they break the news of his wife's death to him. They say prayer is helping them through the ordeal.

"Faith is everything. Faith is every thing. For me to be able to stand here and talk to you about it — I'm doing this by faith. I know God is going to heal my father," said the reverend's son David Wright.

"And I know our son is in a better place right now. He just looks like himself, like he was just sleeping," said the reverend's son Danny Wright. "He probably don't even know what happened. He just went in peace."

Reverend Wright serves as the pastor of the Grace Tabernacle Christian Center in Crown Heights.

He is known for hits such as "Who's on The Lord's Side" and "Jesus, Jesus, Jesus...," which was written by his wife.
