Sources told NY1 Tuesday that the father of the baby girl at the center of what turned out to be a false story about a man abandoning her in his livery cab has been in contact with police about possibly surrendering.
It's not clear how far along those talks are — or when or if Carlos Rodas, 27, will turn himself in. Rodas already faces child abandonment charges and could face statutory rape charges since the baby's mother is only 14.
Livery cab driver Klever Sailema brought six-month-old Daniella Perez to a firehouse Thursday, telling authorities a man had left her in his cab.
Police later found out that his girlfriend is Rodas' sister and therefore the baby's aunt. Both have admitted to making up the story but maintain that they were only trying to help the little girl.
