The Queens woman accused of murdering and mutilating her father last month was charged with murder Thursday night.

Brigitte Harris, pictured above, is accused of killing and then castrating her father — 55-year-old Eric Goodridge.

"We're not admitting she took anyone's life,” said Harris’ attorney Arthur Aidala. “We also don't know who was in the apartment and if her father attacked her and she was defending herself."

She was arrested and charged with second-degree murder and first-degree manslaughter Thursday, more than two weeks after being accused of the crime.

Harris, 26, had checked herself into Richmond University Hospital psychiatric ward a few days after her father was found dead. She remained at the hospital until her arrest.

"We are surprised at the timing of the arrest," said Aidala. "Brigitte Harris has been in a mental health facility for the past three weeks, almost. She's been getting the treatment that she needs. And to be suddenly taken out of there in handcuffs and brought down to the courthouse in this abrupt fashion is somewhat surprising to us."

The defendant's older sister, Carleen Goodridge, says she was molested and raped by her father since the day her family moved in with him. Goodridge says it happened until she was 12, but for her sister, the alleged sexual abuse went on until she was about 18-years-old.

"What will be proven beyond all doubt is that her father molested her at the age of three there may be physical evidence and a person who suffered like that all these years is going to be treated differently," said Aidala.

Eric Goodridge's body was discovered last month in Harris' apartment in the Rockaways bound and gagged.

If convicted, Harris faces 25 years to life in prison. She is being held following arraignment in Queens Criminal Court.
