Hoping to prove neither red tape nor wicked weather can hold back a move out west, the Moondance Diner is taking another shot at the open road today.

The city halted an initial attempt this week at lifting the famous SoHo restaurant onto a flatbed truck because of safety concerns.

The diner, located for more than 70 years near the corner of Grand Street and Sixth Avenue, is headed west to do business in LaBarge, Wyoming.

In addition to safety issues, the move was also delayed as a result of Wednesday's storm.

But the path has now been cleared for the diner to move, starting at 9 p.m. Friday tonight.

The 74-year-old Manhattan eatery was rescued from the wrecking ball by Vincent Pierce and his wife, Cheryl, who bought it for $7,500 over the Internet.

The 36-by-15-foot stainless-steel-sided diner has appeared in the movie "Spider-Man," as well as "Friends" and "Sex and the City."
