State Senator Carl Kruger of Brooklyn said Wednesday that he will introduce a measure making it illegal to use electronic devices, such as iPods and cell phones, when crossing the street.
The ban would include the use of cell phones, iPods, MP3 players, Gameboys, and BlackBerrys.
If the measure passes, anyone caught crossing the street while using an electronic device would be fined $100 and would have to appear in court to answer the summons.
Kruger says the deaths of two pedestrians in his district in the last five months led him to introduce the bill.
