A former city police officer has reportedly been released from the Minnesota prison where he was serving time for his role in the Abner Louima torture scandal.

According to the Daily News, ex-officer Charles Schwarz is now finishing out his five year sentence at an Upstate halfway house.

The paper says Schwarz has found a job near the facility, and that his wife and son have moved into a nearby apartment.

The News says with good behavior, Schwarz will be a free man in May.

Schwarz was convicted of lying about his part in a 1997 attack on Abner Lumina in the bathroom of a Brooklyn stationhouse. Louima was sodomized with a wooden stick by Officer Justin Volpe, who is serving a 30 year sentence.
