Many B& B's are so cozy that lots of people request a late checkout. Some never leave at all, if you believe the ghost stories told by the folks at www.bedandbreakfast.com
. It claims at least 75 of its 6,000 inns have reported eerie experiences, while many others stay mum for fear of scaring guests away.
At the Hannibal Garden House B&B in Missouri, the innkeeper says the most haunted room is the garden house.
“A lady had two of her girlfriends sit at these two chairs, and she wanted a picture of the dining room table and the irises on the wall,” said Rick Rose, the innkeeper at the Hannibal Garden House. “She snapped the snap shot and the ladies and the table were there, but the wall was gone, it was a solid white; there were no irises on the wall.”
If you want to hear the best stories, ask a staff member, at the Azalea Inn and Gardens, in Savannah, Georgia. The housekeeper talks about a baby ghost.
“When I went to vacuum I saw this little footprint,” said Miss Betty, the housekeeper at the Azalea Inn and Gardens. “And I said, oh my, there you are.”
To increase your likelihood of seeing an apparition, then check into a place such as the Magnolia Mansion in New Orleans. Many guests have reported meeting friendly ghosts when they stay in the room known as the Vampire's Lair.
Contrary to popular belief, your chances are not better of seeing a ghost on Halloween. In fact, if you avoid the holiday, you'll have an equal opportunity without all the hype and the higher prices.
The Historic Inns of Rockland, Maine are very welcoming to spirited clientele year round, according to paranormal investigators who say that Captain Lindsey is still hanging around the Captain Lindsey House. And that's typical, ghost busters say, so there is nothing to be afraid of.
