There is still no word Wednesday on which prison former NYPD officer Justin Volpe will spend the next 30 years in.
Volpe was sentenced Monday for sodomizing Haitian immigrant Abner Louima with a wooden stick inside the bathroom of Brooklyn's 70th Precinct stationhouse in 1997. The 30-year sentence handed down by U.S. District Judge Eugene Nickerson was the minimum sentence Volpe could receive.
Officials at the Bureau of Prisons say they'll decide in the next six or eight weeks where Volpe will serve out his sentence. Those same officials say they're considering a number of facilities because Volpe may face harm from other inmates.
