Sources say police shot and killed a man in Carroll Gardens Friday after he allegedly stabbed his roommate in his apartment.

According to sources, a man told police that he was stabbed by his roommate in their Carroll Gardens apartment.

Sources say police responded to a call from the victim at approximately 8 p.m., and the victim pointed out where his alleged attacker was to them.

According to sources, when police went to apprehend the suspect, the man allegedly lunged at them.

That's when he was shot by police in the torso, according to sources.

Sources say the suspect was taken to Lutheran Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

"I was sitting in my bedroom, and I heard two rounds of shots. It sounded like five or six the first time, and maybe four the second time," said one neighbor. "The police were there very fast. It seemed almost like they were there in, like, 60 or 90 seconds."

"Well, I'm just walking towards the bridge, where Ninth and Smith Street, and I just hear, it sounds like a BB gun, but it doesn't sound too loud," said

Sources say an independent witness saw the suspect lunge at police and heard police say "drop it" to the suspect.
