An indictment was unsealed in federal court in Brooklyn Wednesday against an alleged member of al-Qaida who is accused of plotting the murder of Americans in Afghanistan and Nigeria.

Ibrahim Suleiman Adnan Adam Huran, 43, whose nickname is "Spin Ghul," is believed by the U.S. Attorney's office to have worked for the terrorist organization between 2001 to 2005.

Among Huran's many charges are conspiring to murder U.S. soldiers in Afghanistan and bomb U.S. diplomatic buildings in Nigeria, as providing material support to al-Qaida and weapons possession.

Prosecutors say Huran was born in Saudi Arabia but claims citizenship in Niger, received military training in al-Qaida training camps shortly before the September 11th attacks and then fought with a Pakistan-based group in Afghanistan.

He then received further training in Pakistan in 2003 and traveled to Nigeria to plot bombings.

Huran was arrested in Libya in 2005, released from Libyan custody to Italian custody in 2011 and was extradited to the United States last year.

He was brought to Brooklyn in October 2012, where he was arraigned.

Huran is next scheduled to appear in federal court in Brooklyn on Friday.
