A 1,000-year-old Chinese bowl originally bought for $3 was sold Tuesday at Sotheby's for more than $2 million.
The Midtown auction house says a London dealer bought the piece, which is from the Northern Song Dynasty.
The presale estimate was just $200,000 to $300,000.
The person who put the bowl up for sale bought it in 2007 and had it displayed in the living room before deciding to have it examined.
