More than 100 firefighters were working late Tuesday night to free a construction worker who was stuck in the mud at a Second Avenue subway construction site.
Officials say the worker became trapped chest high in mud in a trench at the East 95th Street site at approximately 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.
A spokesman for Con Edison said a vacuum truck was sent to the scene to help remove debris from around the worker.
Authorities said the worker was conscious as of 10:30 p.m. Tuesday.
The effort to dig out the worker was still ongoing as of 11 p.m. Tuesday.
