Driver Allegedly Involved In Brooklyn Hit-And-Run Now Charged With Manslaughter

The driver accused of hitting a livery cab and killing a Brooklyn couple and then fleeing the scene is now facing charges of second-degree manslaughter and criminally negligent homicide.
The Brooklyn district attorney's office says Julio Acevedo, 44, was driving 69 mph through Williamsburg on March 3 when he hit the cab containing Nachman Glauber and his pregnant wife Raizy.
The young couple immediately died, and Raizy's baby boy was delivered by cesarean section but died the following day.
Acevedo was arrested in Pennsylvania on March 7 and was previously charged with leaving the scene of an accident.
He now faces life in prison.
Authorities say Acevedo was imprisoned in Queensboro Correctional Facility from 1989 to 1999 for first-degree manslaughter, robbery and drug possession.
Acevedo was also arrested for drunk driving in February, but a judge in the State Supreme Court in Brooklyn did not suspend his license at the time.
