For the next few weeks, drivers in parts of Washington Heights can ignore the alternate side signs.

The Department of Transportation is phasing in new rules in the neighborhood that will reduce the number of times per week cars have to be moved.

While signs are being changed over, the street cleaning rules are suspended entirely.

The borders for the suspended rules include 181st Street (included) from Riverside Drive to Amsterdam Avenue; Amsterdam Avenue from 181st Street to Edgecombe Avenue; Edgecombe Avenue (included) from Amsterdam Avenue to 155th Street; 155th Street (included) from the Harlem River Drive to Riverside Drive; Riverside Drive (included) from 155th Street to 181st Street; and Harlem River Drive from 155th Street to the Harlem River Drive Entrance Ramp.

Once the signs are swapped in the area, crews will make changes in the rest of Community District 12, including Inwood.
