The 10th annual "Dine in Brooklyn" kicked off Monday with the borough's best restaurants dishing out the best, hoping to lure in local "foodies." NY1's Roger Clark filed the following report.

When you hear the word Junior's, you think of cheesecake. But owner Alan Rosen will tell you there is a whole lot more at the legendary 63-year-old restaurant.

"We have great other food, great entree food, you know snapper, stuffed shrimp, steaks, fish, chops, all sorts of stuff to choose from," Rosen said.

Junior's is one of around 200 restaurants participating in the 10th annual "Dine in Brooklyn." Three-course lunches are being offered up for $20.13, dinners cost $28 and select eateries are doing 2-for-1 deals.

Rosen, whose grandfather Harry opened Junior's in 1950, says it's good for new customers and the regulars too.

"It's also a great treat for people who come here three nights a week. While this week they are going to get a great complete meal for a few dollars more, they're going to get a complete package, and probably take home a piece of cheesecake for dessert," Rosen noted.

One of Junior's longtime customers is Borough President Marty Markowitz, who started "Dine in Brooklyn" 10 years ago.

"It gives the restaurants an opportunity to showcase their great food with the hope that after restaurant week, some of those patrons that tried the restaurant will become regulars," Markowitz said.

Brooklyn's BP says the event draws people from all over the region, and believes his borough is on the cutting edge of cuisine with its restaurants.

"To me this is the quintessential, to me this represents Brooklyn in many ways, but also those young chefs with this innovative cooking and artisanal, organic, hydroponic roof, cruelty-free, hormone-free, all the new wave of cooking is really happening in Brooklyn," Markowitz added.

"Dine in Brooklyn" runs from through March 21. For more information and a complete list of all participating restaurants, visit visitbrooklyn.org.
