The party's over for Fashion's Night Out.
The annual shopping celebration will go on hiatus in the U.S. this year, according to its website.
Steven Kolb, CEO of the Council of Fashion Designers, says some participants complained the event cost money they weren't sure they saw back in sales.
Fashion's Night Out was launched in 2009 as a way to boost retail sales during the height of the recession, and gave fans the opportunity to mingle with their favorite designers and celebrities.
Organizers say it helped raise $1.5 million for the New York City AIDS Fund and the New York Community Trust.
