A man accused of attacking his wife with a meat cleaver in Manhattan over the weekend has been charged and is now waiting to be arraigned.

Surveillance video from a store on Canal Street captured the scene as firefighters from a firehouse across the street ran to help the woman after hearing her scream Sunday morning.

They wrestled the man to the ground and held him for police.

Ming Huang was taken into custody.

He is charged with attempted murder, assault and criminal possession of a weapon.

The victim, who police sources identify as Jinyia You, was taken to Bellevue Hospital in critical condition with wounds to her side, stomach and head.

She is expected to survive.
