Queens Fire Claims Life Of Man, Injures Elderly Mother

A 62-year-old man is dead after a fire spread through his Queens apartment this morning.

The New York City Fire Department broke out around 5 a.m. inside a second floor apartment at The Wilshire, located at 182-30 Wexford Terrace in Jamaica Estates.

A neighbor tells NY1 the man and his elderly mother lived there.

The man was found unconscious and pronounced dead at the scene.

Firefighters were able to rescue his mother, who is now at the hospital in stable condition.

The fire department has not released their names.

The cause of the fire still unknown.
