Some older couples spent their Valentine's day in good company in Brooklyn.

More than 400 married couples of 50 years or more renewed their vows at El Caribe Country Club Thursday.

Among those celebrating their golden anniversary were Brooklyn District Attorney Charles Hynes and his wife Patricia.

The event was hosted by Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz, whose birthday also falls on Valentine's Day.

"Who exemplifies true love better than married couples 50 or more years?" Markowitz said. "That means they've overcome the odds. They have demonstrated really devotion and dedication to each other."

"Married going on 53 years, and it's a work in progress," said Charlie Pinto, who attended the event with his wife. "You just keep working at it and you might get there. And it's not easy. Today, they fall out of it too fast."

"You have to be ready to get married," said Mary Ingram, who's been married for 55 years. "You have to love each other, and trust each other, and things will work out all right."

After music and dancing, attendees indulged in champagne and treats.
