A man was seriously injured Tuesday morning after a two-car accident outside Saks Fifth Avenue.

It happened just before 11 a.m.

A witness says an SUV traveling along Fifth Avenue struck the car he was riding in at 49th Street.

He says the SUV then jumped the curb and struck the building.

Police say a pedestrian suffered head trauma.

"The people that ran were very lucky to run or they all would have gotten hit. Like I said, that one elderly gentleman got pinned, and he got seriously hurt," said one witness.

The man was taken to Bellevue Hospital.

His condition is unknown.

Details of the drivers involved were not immediately available.
