Residents of the Jefferson Houses in East Harlem lost their lights, gas and elevators yesterday afternoon, but the public housing complex now has its power once again.

Con Edison officials say all power was restored just before midnight and officials are blaming a series of manhole fires for the outage.

Melting snow and salt can can get into underground lines, shorting them out and causing fires.

New York City Housing Authority officials say public housing residents who have questions or are experiencing service issues should call the customer contact center at 1-718-707-7771.
