The Old Homestead Steakhouse pulled out all the stops Thursday to honor Annabelle, a cow who has been greeting customers from her second-story perch for 60 years now.
The restaurant used a forklift to bring its anniversary cake up to the humbled heifer, as a long line of people waited for one of the thousands of burgers the restaurant gave away as part of the celebration.
"We just hope for another 60 years for Annabelle," said Marc Sherry, co-owner of the Old Homestead Steakhouse. "If necessary, we'll give her a couple nips and tucks. But she will be up there, the mascot of New York City."
Old Homestead has been serving meat-loving New Yorkers since 1868.
