Appearing before a judge in Brooklyn federal court, Huntley, 74, applied the plea to one count of conspiracy to commit mail fraud.

Prosecutors say Huntley embezzled $87,000 from the non-profit Parent Information Network, a taxpayer-subsidized program that educates parents about public schools.

Prosecutors say she funneled the money between 2005 and 2008 in the form of member items, or pork barrel spending, in the state Legislature.

While in court, Huntley said she used the funds for herself and her family, including paying off a personal credit card.

She now faces up to five years in prison, though prosecutors say under the circumstances the guidance for the charge is somewhere between 18 and 24 months.

A sentencing date has not been set.

Meanwhile, Huntley is also facing charges on the state level for submitting false documents to receive funding for a different education non-profit that was once under her control.

The charges were brought forth by State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman and are still pending.

However, a source familiar with the case tells NY1 they expect Huntley will plead guilty to tampering with physical evidence in the near future.

Four other people, including one of Huntley's aides, were indicted back in December on charges associated with the investigation.
