Governor Andrew Cuomo announced Thursday an extension for two key assistance programs for Hurricane Sandy survivors.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency extended its Transitional Sheltering Assistance program for another 14 days.

This means eligible survivors who cannot return to their homes and are staying in hotels can do so through February 9.

Residents must be registered by Saturday in order to be eligible.

FEMA also extended the Individual Assistance program by 30 days.

This gives individuals and businesses another 30 days to apply to FEMA for assistance in home repair and other needs, and to the Small Business Adminstration for loans.

To apply for FEMA programs, call 800-621-FEMA or visit disasterassistance.gov.
