A group of local business owners have brewed up a way to help those affected by Hurricane Sandy.

Eight local breweries have teamed up to make "Surge Protector," a Sandy Relief Ale.

Half of the proceeds from the India Pale Ale will go to the Long Island Cares charity.

The group is also hoping to help the Barrier Brewing Company in Oceanside, which was destroyed by the storm.

The beer goes on sale today in six locations in the Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan and Queens.
