A pair of would-be robbers paid the price Wednesday after their exit plan went wrong, according to the New York City Police Department.

Police responding to 911 calls in Bushwick Wednesday said they found two men trying to rob the Gourmet Buffalo Deli at gunpoint.

Police say the suspects, 20-year-old Isaiah Henderson and 23-year-old James Gillespie, were assaulting a deli employee when officers arrived.

The two suspects ran from the officers toward the back of the store and tried to escape through a door, according to police, but the door actually led to a bathroom instead of freedom.

After realizing their mistake, police say the pair dropped their weapons and surrendered.

Henderson and Gillespie each now faces several charges, including robbery, criminal possession of a weapon, menacing and unlawful imprisonment.
