Ten judges from around the state are being reassigned to the Bronx to help with a backlog of cases.
Chief Judge Jonathan Lippman says more than 900 felony cases in the borough have gone unresolved for more than two years.
The judges will begin hearing old cases next month in unused and renovated courthouse space that's being converted into courtrooms.
"These judges all have extensive experience trying serious felony cases. They will not be assigned regular case inventories, but rather will exclusively conduct trials of the oldest felonies," Lippman said.
Lippman said the judges will stick around for up to six months to dispose of all the cases.
