Two New Yorkers were charged by the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in connection with two separate animal cruelty incidents.
Justin Burton, a city correction officer, was arrested earlier this month for allegedly neglecting his one-year-old male pit bull mix, named Tori.
Veterinarians said the dog was in severe pain caused by an embedded collar.
The dog is recovering and will eventually be available for adoption.
Meanwhile, Jerome Smith was arrested in December for allegedly neglecting his two dogs, a male terrier mix puppy named Jack and a female terrier mix puppy named Jill.
They were both adopted on Sunday.
