Police caught the man wanted for the city's first homicide of 2013 in Ohio.
Police sources tell NY1 Raymond Mayrant was found in the town of Warren, 50 miles southeast of Cleveland.
Police believe he got there after stealing a car from a family that stopped to give him a ride in Maine.
Authorities had been looking for Mayrant in connection with the death of 59-year-old Elzina Brown.
She was killed trying to break up a fight between Mayrant and her 22-year-old daughter, who was shot but survived.
