About $500 million in federal disaster aid has been approved for Hurricane Sandy victims in the city so far.

FEMA says that's part of the $1.3 billion it approved for New York state.

Queens received the most aid of any borough with more than $200 million.

To date, FEMA says more than 262,000 New Yorkers have contacted it for information or applied for assistance.

That includes more than 142,000 people who applied online at disasterassistance.gov.
