Teen Fatally Shot Near His Lower East Side Home

A 16-year-old boy was shot and killed late Friday near his apartment building on the Lower East Side, and police were searching for his killer the following day.
Police say they found Raphael Ward around 9 p.m. Friday at the intersection of Rivington and Columbia Streets.
He had been shot in the chest.
Authorities say Raphael was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
He lived in Baruch Houses near the intersection where he was shot.
By Saturday evening, no arrests had been made and the investigation was ongoing.
