Police say the city's first homicide of the year took place Thursday afternoon in a Bronx public housing complex, when a shooting left one woman dead and another injured.

Authorities say officers went to 1790 Story Avenue in the Monroe Houses complex shortly before 1 p.m. and found a 59-year-old woman, who was shot in the chest, and a 22-year-old woman, who was shot in the face.

The older woman was pronounced dead on the scene, and the younger woman was brought to Jacobi Hospital in stable condition.

No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information on the case should contact the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS, or text CRIMES and then enter TIP577, or visit www.nypdcrimestoppers.com.
