Funeral Held For Queens Man Pushed In Front Of Subway Train

Funeral services were held Monday in Queens for Sunando Sen, the man who died when he was pushed in front of a 7 subway train last week.

Friends and family said goodbye to Sen at St. Michael's Cemetery in East Elmhurst.

The 46-year-old Indian immigrant and Hindu was pushed to his death Thursday night as the 7 train approached the platform at the 40th Street station in Sunnyside.

Those who knew Sen said he was smart, kind and hardworking.

"He was so kind. He was very quiet, he never fight with anybody," He always going to work, if somebody needs something, he help them, he come back home." said Ashim Dey, Sen's friend. "So tragic, so tragic. We cannot still, now, we cannot take it."

Erika Menendez, 31, was charged with murder as a hate crime in connection with Sen's death.

She is undergoing a psychiatric evaluation.

The Queens district attorney says Menendez admitted to pushing Sen because she blamed Muslims and Hindus for the September 11th attacks.
