Police are searching for a man who attacked a woman in an elevator Thursday.

Investigators say the man, wearing a black jacket and hat, followed a 57-year-old woman into the elevator of a building on Washington Avenue in the Bronx Thursday morning.

They say he got off one floor below the victim's floor when the man re-entered the elevator on the victim's floor and attacked her.

He threw her to the ground, punched her repeatedly, robbed her and then ran off.

The man is believed to be between 17 and 20 years old, about 5-foot-11 inches with a thin build.

Anyone with information on the case should contact the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS, or text CRIMES and then enter TIP577, or visit www.nypdcrimestoppers.com.
