Homeowners with significant damage from Hurricane Sandy are getting some extra time to pay their property taxes.
Mayor Michael Bloomberg has signed a bill that will provide an interest-free grace period for people whose homes were either damaged beyond repair or unsafe to live in.
That applies to about 3,000 homeowners.
Property taxes would have been due on January 1, but that date has now been extended to April 1.
