More funerals were held Thursday for victims of last week's school shooting in Connecticut.

Cardinal Timothy Dolan spoke at the funeral of teacher Anne Marie Murphy in Katonah, New York.

He likened her to Jesus because she gave up her life trying to protect her students.

Murphy's father said her body was found covering a group of children's bodies, as if she was trying to shield them.

A total of 20 children and six adults at the school were killed.

Meantime, Vice President Biden vowed action on curbing gun violence as he held his first meeting as head of a task force formed in the wake of the tragedy.

Biden was joined by Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano and Attorney General Eric Holder for a meeting with law enforcement officials in Washington Thursday.

The task force will study proposals for gun restrictions and improved mental health resources that the president can submit to Congress by next month.

"The president is absolutely committed to keeping his promise that we will act, and we will act in a way that is designed even if he says we can only save one life, we have to take action," Biden said.

The vice president previously helped draft a 1994 bill that banned assault weapons for non-military use.

That ban expired in 2004.
