Hunter College's Brookdale campus re-opened Wednesday, more than a month after it was flooded.

Students were finally able to move back to their dorms after being forced to leave during Sandy. The campus is located in flood Zone A, which was a mandatory evacuation area.

Many had to stay with family or friends, and say they endured long commutes to attend classes at Hunter's main campus.

However, the Brookdale Medical Lab, Physical Therapy and Science facilities remain too damaged to reopen.

Students said they're just happy to be home.

"It's been very stressful, so to see the students come back, to hug, I've never seen students so happy to be back in dorm rooms to study for finals in my entire experience," said Jennifer Raab, president of Hunter College. "They're thrilled to be back."

"It's good," said one student. "I didn't realize how much I missed it until I got back."

"I'm really excited to be back," said a second. "Yeah, I pretty much agree, it feels like home."

The dormitory's basement was also completely flooded during the storm, knocking washing machines off their foundations.
