Police precincts in some areas hit hard by Hurricane Sandy are reporting significant theft increases in comparison to the same time last year.

The 100th Precinct reports a more than 1,000 percent increase in thefts compared to last year over a four-week stretch that ended this past Sunday.

56 break-ins were reported in the western Rockaways and Breezy Point. There were just five reported last year during that time frame.

The 60th Precinct, which includes Coney Island, saw a 171 percent increase in burglaries.

Three precincts on Staten Island reported more than 20 percent spikes.

The NYPD ramped up patrols in an effort to curb the incidents.
