The Staten Island Foundation has created the Staten Island Non-Profit Recovery Fund to help local non-profits recover from Sandy.
They will match the first $500,000 donated from other charities.
All of the money will go to help non-profits affected by Sandy get back on their feet.
They say the funds will not only help sustain strong relationships in the community, but also help prepare for future natural disasters.
The foundation will partner with Philanthropy New York, a grant making organization, to secure funding for the project.
