Police from the Bronx and Westchester County arrested on Tuesday a man charged with the 1993 murder of a Bronx woman, hours after authorities found a body of a stabbed woman in his Mount Vernon bedroom.

Lucius Crawford, 60, was arrested three hours after police found a 41-year-old woman who was stabbed nine times in the chest under his bed in his home on Beekman Avenue.

Police say Crawford confessed to three murders, including the murder of 38-year-old Nella West in Riverdale on October 20, 1993.

West was found with multiple stab wounds in the head, face and torso and a crushed skull.

Crawford's DNA matched evidence found at the scene of West's death.

He also confessed Tuesday to fatally stabbing Laronda Shealy in Yonkers in 1993 and killing an unnamed Mount Vernon woman.

Crawford was previously imprisoned from 1977 to 1991 for stabbing and wounding five women in South Carolina, and then was in prison from 1995 to 2008 for stabbing a Westchester woman.

In 2008, he was released from prison on parole.
