One of the two suspects accused in a plot to blow up synagogues around the city pleaded guilty Tuesday to state terrorism charges.

The Manhattan District Attorney said 26-year old Ahmed Ferhani admitted plotting the attacks to send a "message of intimidation and coercion" to the city's Jewish community.

Prosecutors monitored the scheme for months, saying they caught Ferhani on wiretaps conspiring to bomb city synagogues.

Ferhani also said he and accomplice Mohamed Mamdouh tried to buy weapons and a grenade from undercover officers.

His sentencing is scheduled for January 30.
