Religious leaders came together Tuesday to spotlight their efforts to help New Yorkers impacted by Hurricane Sandy.
An interfaith breakfast at Brooklyn's Borough Hall gave religious and community groups, as well as city officials, a chance to talk about all aspects of storm recovery.
At times, the topics shifted from donating goods and offering spiritual guidance to problems with price gouging, housing repairs and insurance claims.
"As a policyholder myself, I love paying the premiums and never having to put a claim in. Seriously," said Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz. "But when you need to put a claim in, the insurance companies should be there, enthusiastically, and looking for ways to help their policy holders, not to wiggle out of it."
There are about 360,000 insurance claims for storm damage in New York State.
Governor Andrew Cuomo is allowing out-of-state adjusters to get temporary state licenses in an effort to help.
