The J and Z subway lines once again ran their entire lengths through Lower Manhattan on Tuesday morning, more than five weeks after Hurricane Sandy interrupted their service..

At 6 a.m., trains resumed service to the Fulton and Broad Street stations in Lower Manhattan.

J and Z trains had been stopping at Chambers Street while crews made repairs to equipment heavily damaged during the storm.

"I'm so excited the J and Z trains are running again! It's been too long," said one rider.

"A lot of people are excited, it's like 'yes!' Because it's a shorter way and it's quicker to where you want to go," said another.

"I had to wake up a half-hour earlier than normal, which isn't that big of a deal, but every hour counts," said a third.

During Sandy, a rail cable caught on fire in the Broad Street station and melted signal cables.

Crews had to splice in new signal wires and test all the circuits before service was restored.
