The John B. Caddell, a 700 ton oil tanker that washed ashore during Sandy, is covered in graffiti.
The tanker has yet to be removed from its location on Front Street in Clifton.
The Coast Guard could be seen on Monday checking on the tanker.
Officials said a private contractor has been hired to lift the ship to a location where it can be safely inspected.
No word on exactly when that will happen.
